Easy
CGI was founded in 1998 and located in New York. Over the years, they
have expanded their product offerings. They try to present an image that
asserts that they are more experienced than the competitors. However,
based on our testing, they were able to achieve excellence only in certain
arenas. Those arenas are superior, but there are other areas that must
be worked on.
General
Impression:
EasyCGI
has a superior site to work with, which allows us to navigate more
easily. They also offer the most unique product offerings They offer
Coldfusion, JSP and even the new Microsoft.net. Besides web hosting
they offer co-location, and this shows that they are no small player
Data Center:
We
were unable to obtain much information about their date center. We
do know though that they operate a data center and it is located in
the same building as their corporate headquarters. This means they
can easily solve problems if they were to occur
Customer Service:
We
had an extremely difficult time contacting Easy CGI. They have the
worst customer service we have seen. Out of the 5 times that we called
them over a three day period, we were never able to connect to any
human. We were forwarded to a voice mail. However, we did receive a
response from voice mail within a time period of one day. Our email
responses to Easy CGI were also answered promptly, within one business
day.
Control Panel:
One of the
greatest weaknesses in this company is their control panel. Easy CGI’s
control panel is very limited in what it is able to do. For one, it
lacks much of the advanced features that are otherwise found in other
control panels such as web creation tools, setting directories as CGI
readable, etc. Their control panel is very basic, in that it only includes
mailbox editing, and billing information. Expect nothing more from
this company, than just basic standard web hosting.
Overall:
All in all, Easy
CGI is a viable web hosting provider. It offers everything one would
expect in web hosting company. However, its mediocre customer support
and weak control panel makes other options more attractive. EasyCGI
is just another web hosting company and even with quality hosting,
the lack of customer support and weak control panel forces to reconsider
before recommending this web hosting company.
